Rachel Rosenberg and Irene Savine's 2nd Annual

Art in Progress Party

September 28, 2002. Chicago, IL

An event dedicated to motivating guests to get their art "in progress" out of the closet, add another 3 lines to it, and then show it off. Participants were invited to "Present a story excerpt, poem, song, drawing, sculpture, or whatever you've created or are creating. Or, bring an instrument for a jam session. (Food, drink, or applause accepted in lieu of art.)"

Unfinished work encouraged ... Finished work celebrated.

(And full advantage of the explanation "it's just a draft / preliminary sketch" was taken.)

Bringing a finished vase from a series of eight he's been working on, Frank also came armed with blank paper, various colored inks, and a brush. As guests gave their presentations he sat to the side and drew from the audience. The sitters were not formally modeling, in fact, many had no idea when they were being drawn. Due to people changing positions or moving, the drawings had to be executed quickly (15 minutes or less per drawing).
Each drawing is 24" high by 18" wide on acid free 80 lb. paper.
